These Verification Terms and Disclaimer govern the Carifu verification process and the “Verified” designation. They supplement the Terms of Service and the Mechanic Agreement. Capitalized terms have the meanings given in the Terms of Service.
1. Profile and Verification Statuses
A Mechanic profile moves through the following profile statuses, which are separate from whether its market is Active, Prelaunch, or Inactive:
- Unclaimed: a Preloaded Profile that Carifu created from public or properly licensed third-party information and that the business has not claimed. It is labeled “Unclaimed.”
- Claim Pending: a business has submitted a claim and Carifu is reviewing the claimant’s authority to manage the profile.
- Claimed — Not Verified: Carifu approved the claimant’s authority to manage the profile, but the profile is not verified. This status does not indicate whether the relevant market is Active, Prelaunch, or Inactive.
- Verification in Progress: a Mechanic-created or claimed profile that is undergoing verification.
- Verified: a designation indicating that Carifu reviewed the required information and documents against its then-current eligibility criteria at a particular point in time. It is available only after verification and after Carifu activates the marketplace in that area (an Active Market).
Claiming a Preloaded Profile confirms only that Carifu approved the claimant’s authority to manage that profile. It is separate from full verification, “Verified” status, Subscription activation, marketplace activation, and authorization to receive Quotes or Bookings. Availability and Preloaded Profiles are further described in Section 4 of the Terms of Service and in the Website and Marketplace Disclaimer.
2. Eligibility and Required Information
Carifu may require information and documents from a Mechanic, including when the Mechanic creates a new profile, claims a Preloaded Profile, requests ownership approval, or begins preliminary verification. The verification categories are:
- Business Legitimacy: government-issued identification, proof of business or shop ownership, entity registration or business documentation, required licenses or permits where applicable, address, and other information reasonably needed to confirm lawful existence and the claimant’s authority;
- Insurance: evidence of insurance Carifu requires for the applicable mechanic type, service, or market;
- Mechanic Skills and Certifications: licenses, certifications, training records, technician qualifications, service capabilities, or related evidence submitted by the Mechanic;
- Operational Proof: information or documents showing that the business is operating or prepared to operate, such as location, equipment, service capacity, business records, photographs, or other operational evidence reasonably requested by Carifu;
- Optional Online Presence Verification: website, business-directory, social-media, or other online-presence information, when voluntarily provided or reviewed by Carifu; and
- Optional Customer Reviews and Reputation Outside Carifu: third-party reviews, ratings, complaints, or reputation information outside Carifu, when voluntarily provided or reviewed by Carifu.
Carifu may also require additional information reasonably necessary to confirm authority, prevent fraud, evaluate eligibility, or comply with law. Optional categories are not required unless Carifu clearly changes and discloses its then-current eligibility requirements.
Carifu may require this information regardless of whether the Mechanic is located in an Active, Prelaunch, or Inactive Market. These requirements are not automatically deferred based on Market Status.
3. Ownership Approval and Verification Review
Carifu first reviews ownership and identification information to approve a Mechanic profile. After a Mechanic selects and pays for a Subscription and uploads the remaining required information and documents, Carifu reviews the submission. If it satisfies Carifu’s then-current eligibility criteria, Carifu applies the “Verified” designation.
Profile ownership approval, profile claiming, preliminary verification, full mechanic verification, Subscription activation, the “Verified” designation, and activation of marketplace services in a particular city are separate steps. Submitting government-issued identification or receiving profile ownership approval does not by itself grant the “Verified” designation, activate a Subscription, activate the Mechanic’s city, authorize Quotes or Bookings, permit promotions, or establish that Carifu operates in the Mechanic’s location.
4. How Carifu Reviews Documents
Carifu reviews submitted information and documents to determine whether they appear facially valid, are reasonably consistent with the information provided, and satisfy Carifu’s then-current eligibility criteria. Review of skills, certifications, insurance, operational evidence, online presence, or outside reputation does not mean Carifu independently tested the Mechanic’s work, audited the business, verified every third-party statement, or guarantees continuing accuracy.
5. Updated Documentation and Reverification
Carifu does not perform automatic annual reverification. Carifu may require updated documentation or reverification:
- when documents expire;
- when business ownership changes;
- when licensing or business information changes;
- when Carifu receives credible information affecting eligibility; or
- when reasonably necessary to protect the Platform or confirm continuing eligibility.
6. Suspension and Revocation
Carifu may suspend or revoke the “Verified” designation at any time, including when documentation is inaccurate, expired, or cannot be confirmed; when a Mechanic loses eligibility; when Carifu receives credible information affecting eligibility; or where otherwise permitted by law.
7. What “Verified” Means
Verified means only that a Mechanic submitted the information and documents required by Carifu and that Carifu reviewed the submission against its eligibility criteria at a particular point in time.
8. What “Verified” Is Not
Verified is not:
- an endorsement;
- a recommendation;
- a certification of automotive skill;
- a guarantee of honesty or reliability;
- a guarantee of workmanship, quality, safety, price, or outcome;
- a guarantee of current licensing, bonding, or insurance; or
- continuous monitoring of the Mechanic.
9. Customer Responsibility
Customers remain responsible for evaluating and selecting Mechanics. Automotive Services are provided by the Mechanic, not by Carifu, under a Transaction to which Carifu is not a party.
10. Canonical Badge Disclosure
Wherever the “Verified” designation appears, the following short disclosure applies:
Verified means Carifu reviewed information and documents a mechanic submitted against Carifu’s eligibility criteria at a point in time. Carifu did not independently test the mechanic’s work. Verified is not an endorsement, recommendation, certification, or guarantee of skill, honesty, licensing, insurance, workmanship, pricing, or results. You are responsible for choosing your mechanic.
